I have finally finished two belated Christmas gifts. My son asked for a western quilt over a year ago, and I am sad it took so long to finish, but I am thrilled it is now done and that he loves it! The other quilt is for my brother. I also quilted it this week and will put it in the mail in a couple of days.

I used the panto 'Spiral Square' and put a nice warm flannel on the back. Because the flannel is so heavy I used low loft 100% polyester batting which keeps the quilt from being too heavy. |

I am calling this pebbling 'River Rock'. It looks very organic and manly and goes well with the western prints. The larger blocks have a ribbon candy/swirl quilted in them and the sashing was meant to resemble wood. I like the overall effect! |
Always on the lookout for quilts using western fabrics and both of these are wonderful! I'm working on a few too. I'll bet both quilts will be cherished for years!
ReplyDeleteVery nice...I love that spiral squares pattern. Perfect for that quilt and those river rock pebbles are really cool.
ReplyDeleteThose look great! That spiral square is such a good boy pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love it mom!! Reading your blog makes me homesick for you.. blah! I miss you!!
ReplyDeleteWE love the URBAN COWBOY! Lowell says to tell you that the ribbon swirl looks more like a lasso...so, good job on the western theme!
