Mom's Basket Quilt

Years ago mom and I began some basket blocks.  My mom chose some Civil War reproduction prints and she machine appliqued six flower blocks.  When she visited a few weeks ago she brought her blocks and finished the applique and then pieced them together.  I did a very small stipple around the applique and on the outer edges of the applique blocks.  I like the small applique because it looks like small pebbling but is much easier to do.  It is a very beautiful quilt with great color.

Back to Nature

Sharlot pieced this beautiful quilt!  At first we had talked about an all-over panto, but as I looked at it closer, it was begging for some custom quilting...  The title 'Back to Nature' gave me lots of  organic ideas, so I picked a few quilting patterns to carry throughout the quilt and then I got started.  I especially love the hook feather/vine in the boarder.  It was fun to quilt and Sharlot and I love how it turned out.  Many thanks to Myrna Ficken.  I took a custom quilting class from her two weeks ago and I used many of the things she taught us in her class....

Kathy's Sampler Quilt

My mother-in-law is a great quilter and she has a great eye for color combinations.  She made this as a bed cover and it will look great!  I really like how the black sets off the blocks and the repeating 'Jacob's Ladder' blocks. This quilt has custom quilting throughout with a feather border.  I am posting a lot of pictures so that I can remember what I decided to do on each block.  My brain hurt by the end because each block required too many decisions.  I had to call Jenny when I was finally doing the border so she could tell me what to do because I could not make another decision.  She had a wonderful suggestion of doing a serpentine feather because the border was only 3.5 inches wide.  Thanks Jenny!
