Turning Nine

As I was loading this quilt on my Gammill I had an image of quilting the lines within each block following the contours of each shape.  I love how this turned out and the effect it has on the overall beauty of it.  Turning Twenty, or in this case Turning Nine, are very simple to piece and they need a little pizzaz in the quilting to really make them have the WOW factor.  This one worked.
Mexican Star

I have two versions of this pattern that I pieced ages ago in two different color ways.  Today I quilted one of them.  I really like the parallel lines on the corners.  It frames the star and gives balance to the quilt.  This is only about 35x35 inches but the details and the strong colors give it plenty of substance.  I can't wait to display this one!
